A Methodology for Low-Cost Optimization of Energy Efficient Passive Filters in Distribution Networks

چکیده
In power distribution networks, nonlinear loads produce harmonic currents that can pass through other sensitive locations in the power system and eventually back to the source. Harmonic currents can produce a variety of effects that are harmful to a power system structure. Consequentially, the deployment of new cost and energy efficient passive, active and hybrid filtering techniques is important for the utilities and consumers alike. This paper presents an application of the Genetic Algorithm toolbox (GA) provided by MatLab software in order to find the optimal sizing of parameters of C-type passive filters based on minimization of the total investment cost of the proposed filters. Load power factor (PF), load voltage total harmonic distortion (THDV) and supply current total demand distortion (TDD) are considered as the main constraints in this paper. Besides, capacitor loading duties are taken into account in compliance with IEEE Standard 18-2002 guidelines. Various numerical results are presented to validate the proposed approach.

Optimal Sitting, Sizing, and Operation of Batteries and Passive Filters to Mitigate Over-voltage and Harmonic Problems in Distribution Networks with High Photovoltaic Penetration
Photovoltaic systems (PVs), despite their many advantages, may have effects such as power quality issues (voltage and harmonics increase), short-circuits level increase, protection issues, and transient stability for network. Some of these effects are due to the high PV penetration, which encounters the network with the over-voltage and harmonics problems. In this paper, the location, size and ...

Background: Separate radon and thoron measurements in soil are very important in assessment of internal exposure due to inhalation of such radioactive gases. Materials and Methods: In this study, a low cost, small size, passive diffusion chamber has been developed for simple measurement of Radon-222 and Radon-220(Thoron) gases separately in soil. The diffusion chamber consists of two films and ...
متن کاملA Bi-Level Optimization Approach for Optimal Operation of Distribution Networks with Retailers and Micro-grids
Distributed energy resources (DERs) including distributed generators (DGs) and controllable loads (CLs) are managed in the form of several microgrids (MGs) in active distributions networks (ADNs) to meet the demand locally. On the other hand, some loads of distribution networks (DNs) can be supplied by retailers which participate in wholesale energy markets. Therefore, there are several decisio...
